How do you make a boot with metatarsal protection look good?
Make it better looking than a boot without metatarsal protection!
Autumn 2024 sees all sorts of exciting developments happening at Buckbootz and a highlight is BBZ9000 in that context and not just because of its head turning good looks.
BBZ9000 is the first of a new METZ generation of Buckbootz safety footwear products which feature metatarsal protection. Nothing new in that you might say but the fact is that up until now safety footwear with metatarsal protection has looked like safety footwear which has been designed to provide metatarsal protection whilst attempting to look normal but never great to look at. We think that there are ways to turn that perception on its head.
With the launch of the BBZ6000 neoprene/rubber CE/UKCA S5 safety boot in 2008, Buckbootz redefined the humble safety welly.
By advancing the design, construction and specification to create BBZ8000 in 2020 and now adding BBZ9000 with metatarsal protection, Buckbootz has taken the concept to new horizons and created some of the most sophisticated and advanced safety footwear products on the planet.
BBZ8000 combines high visibility and 360º reflectivity with certified ankle protection in its extensive safety and comfort specification.
Now BBZ9000 does the same with metatarsal protection - plus one major difference. In its design BBZ9000 incorporates a distinctive sloped collar shape which allows two reinforced pull on lever openings to be built in to the leg stem. Easy to put on, easy to remove thanks to the kick off heel spur and the kind of snug fit which BBZ is renowned for.
The reinforced pull-on levers withstand a 70kg pull test. That’s 140kg per boot - more than Tyson Fury’s fighting weight!
BBZ9000 is the first Buckbootz BBZ product to carry the BBZ logo which will become a feature on all BBZ products. BBZ9000 is part of the WE SEE YOU family so the logo is reflective, of course.
Due to the construction and design of BBZ9000 it does not incorporate specific anti-abrasion toe area protection yet amazingly for a boot featuring rubber in its upper construction it passes the 8,000 abrasion cycles test which would have it qualify for CE/UKCA SC standard certification.
The extra care we take to have Buckbootz go above and beyond minimum testing standards on all our safety footwear products is probably best exemplified by the testing regime we have in place for our BBZ products. This is of particular significance in relation to BBZ9000 with its metatarsal protection. The EN/ISO standard test is for 125,000 flexes, BBZ9000 exceeds 2 million flexes.
IMPORTANT PERFORMANCE INDICATOR
BBZ8000 and BBZ9000 have both passed the EN 13832-2:2018 Type U (upper protection) tests which measure chemical resistance to n-heptane (equivalent to diesel), 30% hydrogen peroxide and 13% sodium hypochlorite (bleach/chlorine bleach).
