Protection Measured in Feet Saved

Recently, a note arrived to us that perfectly captures what Buckbootz products are all about - and why we’ve championed personal safety in agriculture, construction, industry, and utilities since 1998.

Mark Jackson messaged us to say his Buckbootz BVIZ 2 boots saved his toe in an accident involving 25–30 tons of pressure from the ram of a skip wagon.

Below, you’ll find another story - how Bryan Hogarth’s foot was saved by his Buckbootz BBZ8000 neoprene/rubber boots.

Many of you may have already seen the amazing report from Bryan of how Buckbootz BBZ8000 withstood the impact of a 3 ton dumper truck driving over his ankle.

No apologies for running the tale past you again, principally because of the surgeon’s comment. It’s quite common for the expression “Don’t take our word for it” to appear with testimonials but this is no normal testimonial. It’s the opinion of a medical professional about the effectiveness of a safety footwear product in saving a Buckbootz wearer from a life changing injury.

We think that’s worth blowing our trumpet about because our thought train goes in a straight line from conceiving, developing and testing BBZ8000 with ankle & achilles’ support and impact protection to Bryan Hogarth’s report.

Nowadays you will find competitor products which make ankle protection claims, but a number of these only protect the outer ankle area. All Buckbootz products with AN certified ankle protection protect both the inner and outer ankle bone areas.

On 23rd July, the British Safety Industry Federation (BSIF) issued a warning: a recent recall of safety footwear sold via TikTok highlighted the alarmingly wide availability of substandard PPE in the UK market.

In 35 independent BSIF tests on PPE from non-registered sources, there was an 81% failure rate. That’s truly alarming.

Just to say thank you. Your boots saved my big toe in a great way. I had 25-30 tonnes of pressure  applied to my boots on the ram of the skip wagon. When I was rushed to hospital the surgeon had to inspect boots. Small split to top of boot but never the less. He muttered “Good boot.” 

Thanks so much for saving my toe guys. It’s broken with an open fracture and waiting on next x-ray  to decide what to do next. There is a bit split on top of toe where bone is and visible. But the boot held up for all that pressure. Doctor said it would have been a lot worse.

On Friday 7th February 2025 I was just doing a normal day at work when a 3 ton dumper truck drove over my right ankle. After being admitted into a resus bay with a potential open fracture, they removed my Buckbootz wellie to  reveal that there was actually no open fracture. After doing X-rays the orthopaedic surgeon found that I had not sustained any fractures. He picked up my boots, inspected them and told me that your Buckbootz BBZ8000 wellies had saved my leg. He described your boots as miracle boots that had saved me from a life changing injury.

I’m currently in a boot  medical, not wellie) and have sustained soft tissue damage and will only need to be off my feet for a few weeks. I  will not work without wearing my Buckbootz as I don’t think I will feel safe at work. I can’t thank your product enough!
