Cowhide v Buffalo hide - 50,000 flexes test

There was quite a lot of feedback from one of our latest Dealer Newsletters so we decided to carry out a 50,000 flexes test on cowhide and Buffalo hide to see if we could better show the difference and why it costs on average half as much as cowhide.

You will see from the photos right that the difference is quite pronounced with excess surface cracking clearly visible.

Buffalo hide can do a job and plays an important role in footwear production worldwide but in our opinion it is more of an alternative to cowhide than a substitute and that is the point we think is worth highlighting.

In the USA some footwear manufacturers make a point of clearly stating cow or buffalo leather in the product specifications so we’re not the only company which feels that the difference should be highlighted.
